Our Legacy and Tradition
About Bhattacharjee Barir Durga Puja
Welcome to Bhattacharjee Barir Durga Puja, a celebration rooted in deep tradition and a rich history that spans over decades. Since 1954, our family has been celebrating Durga Puja with immense devotion, starting from the teachings of our beloved grandfather. His profound belief in the divine and the cultural importance of the festival laid the foundation of our family's Durga Puja, which continues to be the heart of our household.
Our house, located in the vibrant locality of South Kolkata, has witnessed countless transformations, yet the essence of Durga Puja has remained a constant force, binding our family, neighbors, and the community together. Over time, our family home has evolved into a welcoming place for everyone to join in the festive cheer, with family traditions extending to our friends, neighbors, and well-wishers.
From its humble beginnings, where only close family participated in the rituals, Bhattacharjee Barir Durga Puja has grown into a grand occasion. It is a celebration that brings people from all walks of life together, uniting us in worship, joy, and the spirit of unity. Our sacred rituals, intricate offerings, and the meticulously prepared bhog (offering) are all a testament to our undying respect for the customs passed down through generations.
The ambiance of our home during Durga Puja is filled with an aura of spirituality and festivity, welcoming every visitor with open arms. This is more than just a festival; it is a time to reconnect with our roots, honor our ancestors, and celebrate the power of the divine feminine.
As we continue to celebrate Durga Puja every year, we honor the legacy of our ancestors and strive to pass on this cherished tradition to future generations. With the year 2024 marking yet another milestone in our journey, we remain committed to preserving the cultural richness that has been nurtured in our family for over six decades.
